Mountain Peak Pets began with a simple idea: our dogs are part of our adventures, and the things we bring along should be made with the same care and intention as the adventures themselves.
What started as a mother-daughter creative project has grown into a small business rooted in craftsmanship, sustainability, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Where It All Started
Heather has always loved working with her hands and creating beautiful, functional things. With years of experience working with leather, she knows that a well-made piece can become something you keep and use for years—not something that needs to be replaced every season.
And then there are the dogs.
With seven noisy dogs in our family, we quickly discovered that traditional pet tags had one particularly annoying habit: jingle, jingle, jingle.
So we set out to make something better.
That little problem sparked an idea—and eventually became Mountain Peak Pets.
What began around our kitchen table grew into a collection of thoughtfully designed leather accessories for dogs and the people who love them.
A Love of the Outdoors
The name Mountain Peak Pets reflects something that has always been important to both of us: getting outside and enjoying the places we love with our dogs.
For Melissa, that connection to the outdoors is also part of her everyday life. She is an outdoor education teacher, helping students develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the natural world.
That perspective has become an important part of Mountain Peak Pets, too.
We believe that spending time outdoors creates a responsibility to care for the places we enjoy. For us, that means being thoughtful about the materials we choose, making products designed to last, and avoiding unnecessary waste wherever we can.
We don't believe sustainability has to be complicated. Sometimes it starts with simply making something well enough that you don't have to replace it.
